The Community Amateur Sports Club scheme offers clubs rate relief and exemption from corporation tax
Manchester MP John Leech was joined by footballing legend John Barnes at CCPR's campaign launch last Tuesday to highlight the need for more tax relief for sports clubs that offer sporting activities for children.
CCPR is the umbrella organisation for nearly three hundred bodies of sport and recreation in the UK. Their campaign highlights the need for amateur clubs to be exempt from corporate tax, saving sport an estimated £20m.
'There are dozens of sports club in south Manchester which do a fantastic job in providing coaching and lessons for children,' John Leech stated, 'The vast majority are run by volunteers who give up their time so that children can take part in sports.
'But they need more support. Providing tax relief on junior subscriptions and lobbying the government to expand the Gift Aid scheme will help junior sports massively, allowing sports clubs to flourish and our children to continue to enjoy sports.'
