'We must recognise the continuing plight of the homeless this Christmas' - John Leech MP

One in seven children are growing up homeless or in bad housing

Withington MP, John Leech, is pushing the government to remember the homeless this Christmas as he backs Shelter's latest campaign.

John Leech MP stated:

'Shelter's new report shows that the government still does not do enough to provide specialist help.

'There still are not enough hostel places or specialised facilities to help people move on. For example, there are 27,000 people on the rehousing list in Manchester alone.

The government must come to realise that solving the homeless crisis is not simply putting a roofs over heads - it is about specialist support and advice.'

Shelter's Christmas campaign aims to persuade government ministers to expand support services, improve access to hostel spaces, and increase decent move-on accommodation.
