Liberal Democrat MP for Manchester Withington, John Leech and local Lib Dem Councillor David Sandiford successfully urged Manchester Town Hall to spend money for additional drainage when heavy rains in January flooded local parks, some garages, and threatened to flood some houses in Didsbury.
After the recent heavy rains, some gardens on Brooklawn Drive, adjoining Fog Lane Park were submerged in water as a result of insufficient drainage in the park. Although no houses were flooded, sandbags were needed to safeguard the houses.
John Leech, MP said,
"I am happy that additional drainage has been agreed and that the work has already began to prevent further damage to property in our community from occurring."
