MP for Manchester Withington, John Leech, attended Cancer Research UK's North West Supporters Conference to mark the recent Volunteers' Week.
This year, the conference was held at the world-class facility funded by the charity, the Paterson Institute at the Christie Hospital in Withington.
John Leech MP said: "I was delighted to meet local supporters and volunteers who work so hard to raise the profile of Cancer Research UK. There are so many people who invest time and energy in raising funds for the charity.
"Cancer Research UK carries out work on all aspects of cancer in more than 30 towns and cities and employs its own scientists as well as supporting other researchers in universities across the UK. Without people like those who I met at the conference, we simply could not count on the life-saving facilities, such as the Paterson Institute."
