Reacting to the news of two gas explosions in Withington this morning, local MP John Leech said:
"First and foremost our thoughts are with the firefighter and the workman who have been injured and I wish them a speedy recovery from their injuries.
Having spoken to the Borough Commander I know that the emergency services are doing everything they can to make the area safe and ensure that everyone is accounted for.
National Grid have also assured me that they're attending to the incident urgently and are on the scene to secure gas supplies and to make sure that supplies to other areas remain unaffected. Most importantly though we need to make sure that everyone in and around the area and is safe and well before we start looking into the causes of the explosions."
