To: John Leech MP
Crime rates in Manchester are on the rise and the Labour Party's response is to cut police numbers and police funding. More than 200 full-time officers were cut in Manchester in the past year and this figure only looks set to rise.
This isn't surprising when we aren't getting the £14m of funding the Labour government's own formula says we deserve. Even worse, we have lost £35m to Labour forces down south.
The Labour government plans to splash out on a dangerous, expensive and unnecessary ID cards scheme, while police budget deficits in Manchester over the next three years are staggering. This can only mean one thing - less bobbies on the beat!
The Lib Dems in Greater Manchester have been fighting these cuts all the way by securing a debate in Parliament on the subject, to which only one Greater Manchester Labour MP bothered to turn up.
I urge you as MP for Manchester Withington, to keep up the fight against the cuts to our force Labour are threatening us with in the coming year.
