MPs to go Meat Free?

Manchester MP John Leech has responded to Manchester Friends of the Earth campaigners by submitting a parliamentary Early Day Motion (EDM) calling for catering authorities at the Houses of Parliament to go "meat-free" on Mondays. [1]

"Bernstein's fee should benefit voters affected", says local MP

Following news that Sir Howard Bernstein, Manchester City Council's Returning Officer for the recent General Election, has given a fifth of his bonus fee for helping to run the election to the Lord Mayor's charity, John Leech has criticised his decision saying it should go towards benefiting locals affected by the polling fiasco.

MP honoured for animal welfare stance

Manchester Withington MP, John Leech has been honoured for his commitment to tackling cruelty to animals. The Protecting Animals in Democracy (PAD) project has presented John with a Certificate in recognition of his full support for their VOTE4ANIMALS 2010 manifesto in the run-up to the May General Election.
