John Leech MP backs the Safer Strangers, Safer Buildings Campaign

10.44.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 19th May 2008

MP for Manchester Withington, John Leech, has applauded PC Helena Hodgson for her work in developing the 'Safer Strangers, Safer Buildings Code' and hopes that his parliamentary backing will encourage others MPs to promote the campaign in their constituencies.

"The Safer Strangers, Safer Buildings campaign was launched on 7th May to promote safety and awareness to children themselves, rather than just to their parents and carers," John Leech MP stated.

"The campaign has endorsed the film 'Teigan Gets Lost', a DVD aimed at children, which teaches them the Code to adopt when they find themselves in unfamiliar territory. It is these kinds of strategies which are integral to the wellbeing and safety of young children."

The DVD is available from the Child's Eye Media website: http://www.childseyemedia.com/safety.html
